Corey Booker(D) is presently the junior senator from New Jersey. He was mayor of Newark, New Jersey prior to this. He named himself “Sparticus” after he bragged about releasing documents related to Kavanaugh’s confirmation that had once been deemed “committee confidential.” He made the decision on his own that the documents should not be held back from the public.

I first became aware of Corey Booker when he and Kamala Harris walked out of the Kavanaugh hearings. They both didn’t seem to have the temperament for the hearings. But America’s congress does seem to be moving to a UK style parliamentary procedures in regards to behavior.

In 2014 he was the top recipient of Wall Street campaign money.Health Care – Believes this should be a right, not something out of reach. States, “We must move to a Medicare for All system”. But previously he has stated he would not do away with private healthcare altogether. His views may be evolving here

Foreign Policy – Booker has been critical of Trump’s abruptly-announced plans to withdraw US troops from Syria and Afghanistan, but in January voted against a resolution warning against these moves.

Immigration – Like most politicians he has stated he is a staunch proponent of “comprehensive immigration reform“. Who isn’t? But he did travel to border

Reparations – April 8, 2019 Corey announced he would take the lead on getting a commission to study possible reparations. The Reverend “Al Sharpton” has been asking this question to all candidates.

Trade – Has stated trade deals like NAFTA, need to be much “more fair to US companies”.

Website – Presently, 190419, presently devoid of any policy statements. Mostly a small history section with upcoming events. His senate page , under “Priorities”, contains more meat.

Unique Ideas

  • 20190417 – Corey Booker, departing from the Schummer/Pelosi line, stated that Democrats should not the nations immigration problems.
  • 20190415 – Corey Booker unveiled a new proposal termed, “The Rise Credit“. Among other things it would raise the earned income credit to $90K for a married couple. An analysis of that plan by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center estimated it would only add $2.5 trillion to the deficit over 10 years
  • Baby Bonds – Corey Booker wants to create “Opportunity Accounts” that would help ensure children would have significant assets when they enter adulthood. His American Opportunity Accounts Act would give each child born in the United States a savings account with $1,000. Each year, until the child turns 18, the federal government would deposit as much as $2,000 into that account. The size of the annual payments would depend on the child’s family income, with lower-income families receiving larger checks. the money could only be used for education, home ownership, or retirement.
