Joe Biden has been in politics since 1970 when he was elected to the New Castle County City Council. He has run for President 3 times now, 1988, 2008, and 2020.
Considered to be a middle of the road candidate, from a Democrat historical perspective. Biden is also the youngest male candidate, as of March 2, 2020, running for the Democratic ticket. He would be 78 on inauguration day. However Trump, Klochubar, and Warren are younger. Given his recent gaffes and missteps, the Washington Time reported he has publicly vowed he would not run for a second term, “if he’s not healthy enough”. An interesting campaign point.

- Biden statements on immigration, his WEBSITE, seems to focus on generic statements. The focus is on the contribution immigrants make by working hard and helping to keep America cost competitive with the rest of the world.

- Reform the visa program for temporary workers – This helps reduce the cost medical care by increasing the number of Nurses and Doctors. - Rely both on employment based and family based immigration. Families should not wait years to be reunited here in the US.
- Increase visa for domestic violence survivors.
- Double the number of immigration judges and staff to increase the efficiency of processing asylum seekers.
- Re-institute the foreign aid to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. In 2015 total US foreign Aid was $52B/year. In 2019 this figure had been reduced to $42B. In 2017, foreign aid was (Honduras-$52M, Guatemala-$140M, El Salvador-$72M), Biden is proposing to give these countries $4B, a 1600% increase from Obama levels.
- Work with Mexico and Canada as partners, not adversaries
- Expand the protections available for undocumented immigrants.
Biden post high school platform, WEBSITE, builds on the strength of community colleges.
- $8B to help community colleges improve the health and safety of the facilities
- If you make $25K/yr, you will not owe any payments. But if you make over $25K/yr, 5% of their discretionary income will go towards their loans. This seems a reasonable compromise to get people to make their Student Loan payments. We would add if they make over, say $100K, the 5% should be higher.
Joe Biden, WEBSITE, is proposing a $640B plan over 10 years. $300B is new construction paid for by taxing corporations and large financial instittutions. His stated goal is every American has access to housing that is affordable, stable, safe, healthy, accessible, energy efficient, located near good schools, and have a reasonable commute to their jobs. Key items are:
- Provide Section 8 housing vouchers to every eligible family so no one pays more then 30% of their income for housing.
- Create a new renter’s tax create to help low income families
- Protect tenants from eviction by providing legal assistance.
- Eliminate local and state housing regulations the perpetuate discrimination
- Tackle racial bias that leads to homes in communities of color being assessed by appraisers below their fair value
With his Super Tuesday wins under his belt. Joe Biden took a proactive step and selected Texas’s Beto O’Rourke as the person he will put in charge of America’s gun problem. Beto was a former 2020 Presidential hopeful, but bowed out and has put his support behind Biden.
Biden has promised he would not seek a second term if his mental acuity was found to be lacking. And would probably be pushed out by the DNC machine. So his Vice Presidential choice here is key as he probably won’t seek a second term. And with 25th amendment concerns, can he full fill his first term? One never knows who in the end it will be, but:
- Hillary Clinton – What you say? She won the popular vote in2016, and guess what? She’s a woman!
- Amy Klochbar – Amy and Pete magically bowed out 2 days before the Mar-3 Super-Tuesday vote. She is from the Midwest and could help Biden win in this key area. And her policies closely match his and she is a “grown-up” compared to other on this list.
- Warren – Warren’s policies more closely match Bernie Sanders, but if he announced her early, he could possibly poach a number of Bernie supporters to help clinch the Democratic nomination. But, others on this list might help more on a general election on Nov 3rd.
- Stacey Abrams – She has unabashedly stated she wants the VP job. But Joe Biden shows he already has the support of African Americans after his win South Carolina, so no real gain here.
- Kamala Harris – The junior senator from Calif was also an early presidential candidate and is active in promoting herself as a contender. However she had no real views or platforms and this presidential attempt appeared to be just to get her name out for next time. Digging deeper she may have #METOO issues from her earlier days (ARTICLE). Additionally during one of the early debates, she came out of blue and blamed Joe Biden for basically supporting busing. Joe’s wife, Jill, who is sharp as a tack, has made statements distancing Joe from Kamala as a choice. But will Joe remember Kamala’s attacks?
In any event, it will be interesting to see how the Left Wing media handles Joe’s mental acuity. In the past they worked overtime to suggest Trump wasn’t mentally fit for the Presidency. Will the same media work overtime to cover up for Joe Biden’s obvious issues?
Joe Biden is a free trade advocate, much more then his fellow Democratic primary rivals are. His contenders, Sanders and Warren have agreed with Trump that free trade has harmed the American worker and sapped manufacturing jobs ARTICLE, he has stated we need to get tough with China to counter intellectual property. Does it make sense for America to offshore key pharmaceutical’s to China?

In the video that follows, Joe Biden is campaigning in South Carolina. He is criticizing the 2018 Tax Cut put in place by the Trump administration where the top rate was cut from 39.6 to 36%.
He states, “if you elect me your taxes are going to be raised”, huh?
Third Time a Charm?
This is the 3rd time Joe Biden has run for President, the first time in 1988, he was forced to drop out for plagiarizing speeches.
He had a number of issues back then, and some of these same classes of issues are still cropping up. Recently he stated he was arrested in South Africa, but then walked that back also.
