Tim Ryan, a congressman from Ohio entered the race on April 3, 2019.
“When we don’t talk about economics, we lose elections,” Ryan said at the time. Implicit to his point was that Democrats needed a more moderate image in order to win future presidential elections.

He prominence jumped a bit when in 2016 he tried to unseat Nancy Pelosi for the Democrat Speaker-ship. But, made a distinction in the process, putting himself on the map as a Democrat upset with the direction of the party.

The new guard of the Democratic party has been leaning heavily left, and more Socialist.
